OWN THE UNKNOWN

Shot on location in Flims, Graubünden, Switzerland three friends (Faranak Partoazar from Iran, Tumelo Makae from Lesotho and Velosolutions boss and downhill star Claudio Caluori) ride out from different start points. Descending from the edge of the Vorab glacier and the wooded valleys 1000m below they eventually meet up at – a destination unknown. The campaign is a collaboration with fellow pioneers: percussionist and composer Ian Chang, sustainable trail creators Velosolutions, and members of the new UCI MTB World Cup team Pump for Peace Racing Never quite knowing what to expect around the next berm or jump, the riders put Vittoria tyres through their paces over miles of mixed terrain – from ice and streams, to rock, roots, mud and grasslands.

Set to Ian Chang’s atmospheric track Inhaler the films capture the interplay between the drum surface and tyres hitting the earth. This takes on an almost spiritual dimension in the dramatic landscape, highlighting the relationship between cyclists and the environment. His music has been characterised as… “just beneath the surface glimmers innovation, as if the neurons firing in each melodic idea have become audible”. And who are we to disagree?
